Sep 30, 2021 · Čáslav is a small town 10 km to the south east of Kutná Hora in central Bohemia. It is easily missed in favor of the larger and more famous Kutná Hora, but Čáslav has its own unique and long history. It is definitely worth stopping for a short stroll around the attractive town center and fishpond.
It is thus one of the oldest Czech towns, which thanks to the preserved belt of town fortifications with 15 bastions and the Gothic Otakar Tower, tells a medieval story to every visitor. The dominant feature of Čáslav is the Church of St. Peter and Paul with its 88.5 metre high tower and unique Romanesque presbytery.
Čáslav (Czech pronunciation: [ˈtʃaːslaf]; German: Tschaslau) is a town in Kutná Hora District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 11,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.

The town of Čáslav was founded around the mid 13th century by Bohemian King Přemysl Otakar II. The landmark of the town is its extensive square with the Baroque Marian Column, Baroque fountain, and monument to Jan Žižka of Trocnov by sculptor J. V. Myslbek and the Baroque Town Hall from the 18t.
