    Story and script

    1. The genesis of this episode came from Manny Coto, who wanted it to feature the inventor of the transporter, since virtually nothing had been established about that person before.     1. Seven days were used to shoot this episode, the sixth of which was 18 October 2004. On that day, the events included some filming on the set for Enterprise's sickbay (located on Paramount Stage 8). (Star Trek Magazine issue 155, p. 32) 2. This episode takes its name from the character of Daedalus in Greek mythology. Daedalus, too, is a brilliant inventor whose invention kills his son, Icarus.
