Feb 3, 2015 · Rita Chao, the singer and recording artist popular in the 1960s as part of a duo with Sakura Teng, died last July from cancer, her mother revealed yesterday to Lianhe Wanbao.
Rita Chao was a very popular Singaporean singer most popular from the mid-1960's to the early 1970's. She was one half of the duo Rita & Sakura, and the duo were considered the A Go-Go Queens at the height of their popularity. Chao sang in both Mandarin and English, covering several Western hits.
