Jul 31, 2015 · The former sergeant, now Inspector, ran away from his problems to Manchester, but has returned at the request of Chief Inspector Abberline, who seeks to retire from Scotland Yard, installing Reid as his successor while Drake assumes control of Whitechapel.
Four years have passed. Rose is now an established music-hall performer and Susan has financed a clinic. Abberline is keen to promote the recently-widowed Reid and replace him with Drake, also an inspector, but Reid prefers to stay in Whitechapel, building up resources.
