"Bleeding Kansas" is the eleventh episode of the fourth season of the AMC series Hell on Wheels.
Act I
Reverend Nathaniel Cole and an armed group of men break into a home and drag the occupants outside, including a man named Henry. Henry's slaves look on nervously as Cole proclaims that that the sins of slavery shall be washed away with Henry and his kin's blood. Cole frees Henry's slaves and he kills Henry and his kin with a cavalry sword. A small girl watches the event unfold from under the covering of a wagon, blood splattering her face. This ten year old girl is Ruth Cole. Back in Cheyenne, Ruth stands silently in front of the Palmer House. Sydney Snow lies wounded, but conscious in the street. Louise Ellison takes Ruth away to the Cheyenne Leader office and Bohannon and some men take Sydney inside the Palmer House. John Campbell demands Cullen do his job and arrest Ruth.
