"Lights Out" is the 13th and final episode of Season Seven of the NBC television show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.It aired on April 23, 2020.

The entire squad is on high alert when a massive blackout hits Brooklyn.

The episode begins with a simple briefing as Holt mentions that it is Amy’s last day before she goes on maternity leave. As the meeting is dismissed, all the lights in Brooklyn go out. Jake mentions how calm it is, right before gunshots suddenly ring out. Holt and Terry are stuck in the elevator, so Amy is in charge of the precinct. Rosa hesitantly calls the fire department, while Jake and Charles investigate the origin of the blackout.

As Jake and Charles investigate, they find a drunken man named Russ who was seemingly unintentionally responsible for the entire blackout and arrest him. Back in the precinct, the fire department arrives as Amy mentions she needs a pair of sweatpants. When Rosa asks what the sweatpants are for, Amy nonchalantly says that her water broke, much to Rosa’s shock.

Amy denies that she is in active labor and tries to delay going to the hospital for as long as possible. Rosa calls Jake and tells him the Amy’s water broke. Just as Jake is on his way, he and Charles are forced to pick up an elderly woman named Dottie after she requests a ride home, and they end up getting stuck in traffic.

Meanwhile, the fire department tries to get Holt and Terry out of the elevator. Holt mentions that he has a fear of elevators. In response, Terry relates how, whenever his little brother got scared, he would teach him dance moves to distract him and suggests doing to same thing to calm Holt down. Holt, left with no other choice, agrees to it.

Jake, Charles, Russ and Dottie decide to walk to the precinct, but then they hear a woman in a building cry for help. Her neighbor fell down the stairs and suffered a concussion, so Jake and Charles have to bring him along with them. However, when they get out of the building, Dottie is revealed to have shot Russ in the leg because he made a sudden movement (he sneezed). Dottie is promptly arrested, and the group is forced to invade a bachelorette party to use a pedal pub to get back to the precinct.

As they are getting back to the precinct, Russ unintentionally admits that he caused the blackout on purpose, as his friends were going to rob a bank. Jake and Charles are forced to prevent this robbery, but it sets them way back. Jake loses hope of getting back to the precinct in time, but Charles, seeing no other option, hesitantly calls Lieutenant Peanut Butter.
