Series 9, Episode 1 - Gone With The Windmill. Having been double-crossed by Herr Flick, Gruber and the Colonel are looking for a way to un-desert. Madame Edith concocts a plot that will appear that they have been kidnapped.
General Von Klinkerhoffen orders Colonel Von Strohm and Lieutenant Gruber to stay and fight to the end, so they decide to escape and hide – ending up at the cafe, walking into the attic bedroom just as René is making his final radio call to London.
Colonel Von Strohm and Lieutenant Gruber fail to escape to Spain. Renandeacute; suggests that they hide in a local windmill and pretend to have been kidnapped. General Von Klinkerhoffen has ordered the windmill to be used for target practice by the German artillery.
In a small café in occupied France the harassed proprietor, René, is fighting his own war. With the German Army in residence at the bar, René is risking his neck to aid the Resistance by hiding two British airmen and a radio transmitter upstairs.
