The Rainbow Falls, Māori name Waianiwaniwa, (Waters of the Rainbow), are a single-drop waterfall located on the Kerikeri River near Kerikeri in New Zealand. Unlike most New Zealand waterfalls which are created by the erosion of soft rock, the Rainbow Falls are sited on a hard basalt layer of rock beside softer mudstone.
You can stroll along the riverbank to the spectacular Rainbow Falls, where the water tumbles into a popular swimming hole surrounded by native bush. The falls are also a popular destination for kayakers to explore.
When the sun is right you will be looking down onto the rainbow of Rainbow 🌈 Falls. There are 2 more lookouts from the easily accessible track. Remember though no dogs, kiwi sanctuary, and suitable precautions for kauri die-back.

Rainbow Falls is an impressive and easily-accessible 27m tall classic rectangular waterfall near the town of Kerikeri in the Northland Region of New Zealand.
Rainbow Falls Walk is located near Kerikeri in the Northland region. It's a lovely short scenic walk to a beautiful waterfall. The track beyond the falls follows the river and meanders through the bush. Access from Rainbow Falls Road. A large car park with public toilets is located at the trailhead.

Nov 28, 2019 · Rainbow Falls is an easy short walk, just a few minutes out of the Kerikeri township. If you are heading up to Northland, in the far north of the North Island, then put this on your must do list. It is a beautifully easy walk, perfect for families and small children.
