  1. The building of Glasgow Cathedral began in 1136 and took about 350 years to finish. The cathedral was dedicated to St Kentigern (or St Mungo), a Christian missionary in the area during the 6 th century AD.

  10. The Society of Friends of Glasgow Cathedral was founded in 1936 by the Very Rev Dr Nevile Davidson and brings together people who are passionate about preserving the Cathedral for future generations. It is a non-denominational organisation run by volunteers.
