The Carlucci American International School of Lisbon (known as CAISL) is a prominent not-for-profit private international school in Linhó, Sintra, a suburb of Lisbon. Founded in 1956, CAISL is the oldest American school in the Iberian Peninsula and the only U.S. State Department sponsored school in Portugal. [1]
Moving confidently towards a bright future. High School (Grades 9 through 12) marks the end of students’ school journey. These are years of personal and academical growth, as students keep being challenged in their classes, but also start making plans for their future studies.
Academic Program. As an American School, CAISL follows the best of America’s historic traditions and philosophies combined with current “best practice” in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
About Us. History. Founders of the American education in Portugal. In September 1956, Anthony McKenna founded a small school with 9 students in an apartment in Pedrouços.
