Feb 9, 2017 · Yau Ma Tei, formerly known as Waterloo (named after Waterloo Road), is a part of the Yau Tsim Mong (Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kong) District in the south of the Kowloon Peninsula. Here, there are a wide variety of things to do.
This Tin Hau Temple is located in Hong Kong’s bustling Yau Ma Tei area, a community that was once on the harbour front. Although land reclamation means it's no longer on the shore, fishermen still flock here to worship the Goddess of the Sea, Tin Hau. The temple is now a Declared Monument.
Named for its three main neighbourhoods, Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok, Yau Tsim Mong is among the densest places in the world, with 343,000 people crammed into just 6.5 square kilometres. But that wasn’t always the case.
