Sir John Robinson by John Michael Wright (detail), 1662, Guildhall Gallery. Sir John Robinson, 1st Baronet, of London (10 January 1615 – February 1680) was an English merchant and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1660 and 1667. He was Lord Mayor of London in 1662.
The Robinson Baronetcy, of London, was created in the Baronetage of England on 22 June 1660 for John Robinson, Lord Mayor of London and Member of Parliament for the City of London and Rye. [3] He was the nephew of Archbishop William Laud. The fifth and sixth Baronets both represented Northampton in the House of Commons.
Venerable Sir John Robinson, 1st Bt. was born on 15 February 1754 at Witney, Oxfordshire, England. 2, 3 He was the son of Very Rev. William Freind and Grace Robinson. 4 He married Mary Anne Spencer, daughter of James Spencer and Jane Mercier, in 1786. 2 He died on 16 April 1832 at age 78 at Hall, Buckinghamshire, England. 2, 3.
