Dr. Waldman teaches Henry Frankenstein in medical school; Frankenstein joins the medical staff. Frankenstein wants to create life and asks for access to dead bodies; Waldman says that's not possible, and so Frankenstein leaves the staff. Frankenstein locks himself in his remote lab for months.
At first it looks like Dr. Waldman—Henry's old medical teacher at the university—is a bastion of morality, good advice, and properness. He says Henry's grave robbing is bad, which seems like a sane, reasonable position to take.
