- Terraferma is an angry and heartfelt denunciation of the situation, but despite a beautiful opening sequence, the film sinks beneath its crude characterizations, melodramatic twists and the mawkish simplicity of its own politics. Rated: 2/5 • May 30, 2019 Whilst Terraferma is honourable in its intentions, it falls down in terms of quality.

Jul 25, 2013 · Review: Terraferma. Like the neorealist classics that have inspired them, Emanuele Crialese’s films tend to mix gritty immersion with folkloric intimations. Terraferma has an approval rating of 67% on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 24 reviews, and an average rating of 6.3/10. [9] Metacritic assigned the film a weighted average score of 57 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
Terraferma is without doubt the best film by the Sicilian director Crialese, whose earlier works include Respiro and Nuovomondo.
