Marlborough College is one of the most prestigious of English co-educational private boarding schools. Originally established in the nineteenth century to educate the sons of clergy, the school became the first of the traditional boys’ schools to admit girls into the sixth form and, whilst boys still outnumber girls, Marlborough is today fully co-educational.
Marlborough was, in 1968, the first major British independent boys' school to allow girls into the sixth form, [5] setting a trend that many other schools followed. The school became fully co-educational in 1989, and made a major contribution to the School Mathematics Project (from 1961) alongside initiating the teaching of its Business Studies programme (from 1968).
Marlborough College is one of the finest co-educational full boarding schools in the country and draws pupils between the ages of 13-18 from across the UK and the world.
