Nov 6, 2017 · Hilda Lessways by Arnold Bennett. This book is the second in Bennett’s four books about life in the Five Towns (the real life Potteries in Staffordshire). It tells the story of Hilda before her marriage to Edwin Clayhanger (from the first book).
The plot has been partially outlined in the previous book but one more thing that makes this book more interesting is that it both fills in gaps and explains certain behaviours, particularly by Hilda, which were not readily explicable in Clayhanger.
