Arechi Castle is a castle in southern Italy located on top of a mountain (about 300m above sea level), at the foot of which lies the city of Salerno.
Castello Arechi is a medieval castle and Salerno's most famous landmark. Rising 263 meters above the city (its oldest part dates back to 6th-century Byzantine era), it was built in the 8th century by Lombard Duke of Benevento, Arechi II, and later modified by the Normans and the Aragonese, most recently in the 16th century.

Located on the Bonadies Mountain, 300 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea level, this castle was built in the seventh century on behalf of the Lombard Prince Arechi II who moved the capital of the Dukedom from Benevento to Salerno.
Dominating the city of Salerno and its Gulf from above, the majestic Castello di Arechi is a medieval complex located about 300 metres above sea level, atop Monte Bonadies.
