Les Barker (30 January 1947 – 14 January 2023) was an English poet. He wrote comedic poetry, parodies of popular songs, and also serious works. [ 1 ] Biography. Barker on stage at the 1980 Towersey Folk Festival. Barker was born in Manchester, England, on 30 January 1947. [ 2 ] .

Barker's forte is puns, and "A Cardi and Bloke" (Bacardi and Coke...get it?) contains more of this "lowest form of humor" than any work ever before recorded.
