preserved in The Rothschild Archive, which bears her cipher and now contains a miniature of her husband, Anselm Salomon von Rothschild, whom she married in 1826. The characterisa-tions are also quite solid, particularly those of brothers Lionel, Anthony and Nathaniel when compared with later likenesses.

Salomon Mayer von Rothschild, the second son, went to Austria and established S M von Rothschild in Vienna. He married Caroline Stern, with whom he had two children (a daughter and a son).
She married her cousin, Anselm on 11 September 1826 in Frankfurt, where they settled in a house on Neue Mainzerstrasse. The couple also had a home in Vienna, where Anselm was closely involved with the management of the Viennese banking house.
