Some Carnation and Swiss Miss drinks of the same type taste like chalk unless you use milk, the difference being, I believe, the fat content - fat is an excellent flavor enhancer/conductor/carrier.

Nov 23, 2022 · I would look into either 2% milk or milk alternatives, and some dark chocolate bars. Warm the milk on the stove and then melt & mix the bar in. Alternatively just use real cocoa powder and lower the amount of sugar added. Those both make fairly low cal hot chocolate drinks, and are my personal go-tos during winter.
Nestle sells this brand of grocery store hot chocolate under license from Starbucks, and quality control is miserable. I've been shorted on volume of powder on multiple occasions over the years, but I've been sticking with the brand because it has a richer chocolate flavor than familiar brands targeted at children.

Jan 28, 2021 · My guess would be that there's a lot more powder to dissolve with the hot chocolate, which has 3-4 teaspoons of powder plus 2 sugars, than with my coffee, which is just 1 teaspoon of instant coffee, and so the enthalpy of solution required to dissolve the hot chocolate is greater than with coffee and so more of the heat energy is lost in dissolving the hot chocolate than with coffee.
So you could just put whatever chocolate you fancy through a food processor. There are a few brands of hot chocolate that are grated chocolate too, I think- fairly sure the Walker and Charbonnel is, although that's not exactly cheap either. Just make sure whatever chocolate you use is decent so it melts and incorporates nicely.
