Generation is a 1969 American comedy film directed by George Schaefer and written by William Goodhart. The film stars David Janssen, Kim Darby, Pete Duel, Carl Reiner, Andrew Prine and James Coco. The film was released on December 15, 1969, by AVCO Embassy Pictures.

Right off the bat, Ariana falls for Nathan, one of the supporting characters of the show. She comes from a queer home, as she's raised by two dads. This allows the character's story to fit into the spectrum of sexuality that Generation explores. Alexander previously appeared in Ocean's Eightas the little sister to Rihanna's character Nine Ball.
Naomi is Nathan's sister. She is initially completely consumed by her relationship with her boyfriend Jack. But once Nathan comes out as bisexual, she dedicates herself to becoming a well-informed ally, especially against their homophobic mother. East previously appeared in Kevin (Probably) Saves the World and The Wolf of Snow Hollow.
Haley Sanchez appears in the HBO Max show as the shy Greta. She has a crush on another girl at school named Riley, but has a hard time navigating the line between platonic friendship and something more. Ana is Greta's aunt. She fiercely supports her niece, giving her the confidence she needs to find herself. Generationis Mau's first major television role, as she's only previously appeared in a handful of shorts before.
Delilah is another student at the school. Her story in Generationkicks off on an unexpected note as she gives birth to a baby in a mall bathroom. Her friends Naomi and Ariana were by her side as it all happened. Maxwell previously appeared in the TV show speechless.
Chase Sui Wonders as Riley — Riley is an outspoken member of the GSA club. Within the first few episodes of Generation, it's unclear if she feels the same way about Greta.
