In the summer of 2015, four guys from the small town of Newark, OH decided to form a Celtic Rock band covering everything from the traditional Celtic tunes to the modern renditions of bands such as Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, and Alestorm.
Directors - Pride of Newark Bands. Lee Auer - Director of Bands - Mr. Auer has served as Director of Bands at Newark High School since 2016. Prior to his appointment at Newark High School, he served as band director at Heritage Middle School from 2014-2016, and Valley Local Schools in Lucasville, Ohio from 2007-2014.

The evening’s celebration begins with popular local musical groups performing outside on the campus grounds. The crowd-favorite fireworks display begins at dusk to the accompaniment of patriotic favorites performed live. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is also free.
We are very proud that the Pride of Newark is the ONLY Class AA band to reach OMEA State Marching Band Finals every year since its creation in 1980. The band is also one of only two schools (regardless of class) to reach State Finals every year since 1980 (42 years).
