Love started back in 1963 when Arthur Lee (singer), Johnny Echols (guitar), and Billy Preston formed a high school band known as the LAGs, or the LA Group, which would later also feature Jimi Hendrix. The group dissolved as Hendrix and Preston moved on to other things, but Lee and Echols continued to play together.
