The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft away. Do not place near or over a heat source.

Over-the-Range Microwaves and Advantium Ovens require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to top of the appliance. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 13" between the cooktop surface below and the bottom, front of the Microwave.
Jun 6, 2023 · In addition to the above, you should also consider a few other things when measuring the space for your new microwave: Most units also need a front “clearance” of about 3 inches from the edge of the counter. This would let you open the door in all safety.
How much worktop space do you have? The bigger microwave you need, the more space it will take up on your worktop. This won't be an issue if you have a roomier kitchen, but anyone tight on space will need to check that their chosen model isn't too large.
Most of the microwaves require around at least 3 inches all around, leave three inches of space between the walls and the top, sides, and rear of the microwave oven. But for this one if you can have at least 8 inches all around for safety reasons, and especially from the top since heat rises, will be great!
If installed next to a deep cabinet or wall on the hinge side (left side), however, current models require 1/2" clearance on the hinge side for the door to open. Check the installation instructions or Quick Specs for your model.
