In this article we will investigate the 188 appellations (titles) and epithets (descriptive phrases expressing a characteristic of someone) that are used to name the one God of the Hebrew people in their Holy Scriptures (the Tanakh).
God is the LORD of the Armies of Heaven. “The LORD of Hosts” is repeatedly referred to in the Old Testament Scriptures, as the name of the Hebrew God. I shall give three witnesses to this truth. Isaiah 47:4: - “As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.”.
