Note: I've watched all 13 Aquarius episodes and compiled a big Season 1 review here. Now, I'm going back through each one and giving and laying down an individual review. These will be short-takes though.

Sam asked his retired buddy Joe to investigate a pilfering priest, a music producer (Evan Arnold) stopped by to check out Charlie's groovy tunes, and Brian's attempt to bring Jimmy Too and Roy together held dire consequences. "Sick City" showed us that the beating Sam gave Charlie still mentally lingered (or at least he used it as an excuse for his guitar string breaking) while Sam himself verbally volleyed with old friend/confident Father Mack (Eddie Jones) - a sort of TV-ready priest, light on judgment and long on patience.

The smaller twist here involved Father Mack being murdered by the gambling pastor he'd asked Sam to follow. It was all meant to be a big "What kind of a crazy world do we live in?" moment for Sam, but the beat just sort of sat there as flat as Sam's haircut. Though I suppose it held some value in that gave us a glimpse at exactly what type of crime makes Sam take a pause. Because he's seen a lot of injustice over the past seven episodes and hasn't really flinched. This one though, tied to his lapsed Catholicism, got his goat.

Aquarius threw Brian an undercover cop curveball while Sam took a hit after his old friend got killed. Despite this tragedy, Sam's drinking still hasn't led anywhere truly dark or interesting. I'm glad Emma refused the acid and took off on her own at the end, but the "lawyers/politicians cover up dead hooker" game is old hat though. [poilib element...
