The Stranger Wore a Gun is a 1953 American Western film directed by Andre de Toth and starring Randolph Scott and Claire Trevor. Based on the short story "Yankee Gold" by John W. Cunningham, the film is about a war criminal wanted for the slaughter of women and children who moves to Arizona to join a gold robbery but reconsiders and decides to change his life.

Sep 6, 2005 · Thankfully I was not disappointed! "The Stranger Wore a Gun" was one of a series of westerns made around the period of the early 1950's that starred Scott and were directed by the one eyed Hungarian émigré Andre De Toth. This also included the excellent "Man in the Saddle". Although admittedly not classics they are very good westerns.
