The NA Turbos were 210-215 hp and had lag (as with all single turbos), whereas you could get 200+ for just the cost of porting & flowing the head & rebuild costs (labour + gaskets etc). Is that now closer to 95/05 in favour?

   Aug 2, 2006 · I was wondering what experiences you chaps have had with rebuilding engines yourselves? Having them rebuild by others and what the costs involved were? How about a second hand unit from LotusBits at £1500 or so? A rebuilt exchange engine from Garry Kemp or someone else at £2000+. A tuned modified EFI engine at £6000-8000.

   Jul 4, 2010 · The entire Excel gearbox seems a bit overpriced at £750; LotusBits quote £400 +VAT for a used gearbox, and I can't see any reason to believe the eBay one would be any better. The eBay rebuild kit looks well worth having, thanks Bash! Shame the postage is 40% higher than the actual cost of the kit.
