Cranbrook School, nestled in the heart of Kent, has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Founded in 1518 by John Blubery and six other members of Cranbrook Parish, the school was established as a grammar school for boys, reflecting the early Tudor commitment to education.
Fees and Charges. As one of the country’s few state boarding schools, the education provided by Cranbrook School is free to day students and boarders alike. The only charges levied by the Governors go towards boarders’ accommodation and live-in costs – far lower than Independent sector fees.

Cranbrook School offers boarding from Year 9 – Year 13. Cranbrook School is one of 38 state boarding schools in the country. We are a state funded school, so there are no tuition fees. This ensures our boarding fees are approximately one third of those that might be charged at a private school.

Application Criteria. From September 2023, we shall be admitting 90 boys and girls as day students to Year 7. There are no boarding places available in Year 7 or 8. We admit 150 boys and girls each year at Year 9 (13+ age group), including 52 boarders.

Some Students in Years 9 & 12 have been hard at work on some incredible science projects, choosing experiments after researching topics they were passionate about, all completely outside the curriculum!
