One of the most impactful She’s The Man scenes came when Viola tried to explain the reason she had tampons with her: to stop nose bleeds. The ole “tampon up the nose” gag was used in real life after that for years.
Even Duke adopted Viola’s tampon trick after getting in a fight. But after she caught herself slipping out of her Sebastian character while being genuinely concerned for Duke’s health, Viola had to recommend a different remedy to prove she was just a classic blokey bloke: rubbing dirt all in it.
If you look up “roasted to a crisp” in the dictionary, I’m certain you’d find a photo of Justin’s face after Viola delivered this beautifully savage line. Note to men: Don’t try to control when women can speak by saying “end of discussion”.
Sure Viola’s reaction time to being hit in the balls was delayed as hell, but it’s the thought that counts. Between this and using “I’m allergic to the sun” to get out of playing shirts and skins truly proves she’s the CEO of thinking on her feet.
If Viola did anything in She’s The Man, it was pep talk herself into getting into character when she needed to.
But if it wasn’t a pep talk, it was Viola absolutely detesting the need to be ~ladylike~ at any and all times.
Another classic burn from Viola, who never once tried to hide her hatred from Monique. We simply must stan.
