"Funny Farm" is kind of a loony, off-center comedy version of Hill's "The World According to Garp," another movie about strange people in bizarre situations. "Garp" made too much of its significance, however, while the comedy in this film is light as a feather.
Funny Farm is one of those very funny comedies that is also family friendly. Chevy Chase is hilarious as usual, and his wife did a good job as well. Lots of very funny scenes, especially the pay phone, and the sherrif that rides around in a taxi.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 64% rating, based on 22 reviews, with an average rating of 5.1/10. [2] Vincent Canby, in his review for The New York Times, called the film "good-natured even when it's not funny," and went on to say that its best jokes are recycled from other, better, films. [3]
