Dec 7, 2019 · I'm looking for polarizer and UV filter recommendations for the Canon RF 24-105mm. B&H has literally a hundred plus options ranging from $15 to $300. I want something that won't ruin the resolution of the lens and EOS R but will provide a degree of polarization. Any recommendations?

The most common polarizing filters are circular and consist of two glass pieces sandwiched together. They go on the front of your lens, so you need the correct size to fit your lens diameter (or an adaptor). Once the filter is on the lens, you can rotate the outer layer of the filter. As you turn the filter, the effect it has on light entering your...
At times, reflectionscan enhance a photograph or even be the main subject. But they can also be unwanted and distracting. When you are photographing: 1. glass 2. chrome 3. water 4. or other reflective surfaces it can be challenging to create a clear representation in your photos. Reflections from these types of surfaces can invade your composition....
Polarizing filters work by stopping some light waves from entering your lens. Light waves reflect off uneven surfaces in different directions. A polarizing filter only allows light to enter the lens that’s coming from certain directions. As light waves vibrate and bounce off different surfaces, the direction and rate of the vibration is altered. Th...
Using a polarizing filter is best done by turning the filter and observing what’s happening. Either by looking through your viewfinder or at your rear LCD screen, you will see the image changing as you turn the filter. There are techniques you can read about that rely on scientific breakdowns of how these filters work. They will tell you in which d...
Experimenting with polarizing filters is the best way to make use of them. I usually carry a few in my bag of varying sizes. These fit my 55mm, 35mm, and 105mm lenses, which are the lenses I use the most. Using a polarizer with a wide-angle lenscan create some weird results because of the broad field of view. If you’re making a series of photos to ...
Apr 4, 2024 · With filter thread diameters available in all common sizes from 37mm through to 95mm (and even an elusive 105mm option, if you can find it), there’s a DHG Super polarizer for almost any lens, and most are very well priced, in the UK at least.
Aug 9, 2007 · I don't have any recommendations regarding brand. As stated, the 50 mm f1.8 takes a 52 mm filter. However, I would buy a 58 mm filter and a step down adaptor. You can then use it on the kit lens and a number of other lenses, e.g. the 70-300, that take a 58 mm filter. Jim.
These filters are most commonly threaded onto the end of a lens. Because Canon's big white lenses have a huge front objective lens size, these threaded filters are not practical. Therefore, Canon provides a different type of circular polarizer filter option, the Canon 52mm Drop-In Circular Polarizer Filter.
A polarising filter, CPL or circular polariser as they are also known, are one of the most widely used lens filters in outdoor photography. They are used for several purposes such as to darken blue skies, manage reflections and to reduce glare from wet surfaces including rivers and lakes.
