May 13, 2024 · In early November 1888, northern Lancaster County resident Barbara Fisher passed away. Surprisingly, some inhabitants of Reinholds in West Cocalico Township felt a profound sense of relief at the elderly woman’s death, as she was known far and wide as a “Hexa Frau,” meaning witch woman in English.
About Barbara Fisher. My work is about transforming interior narratives into a visual language. The paintings are made up of fragments of thoughts, gestural marks, and scribbles – hovering in undefined atmospheric spaces, sometimes facing off.

Barbara Fisher was born in New York City, educated in Colorado and California, and lived for many years on the West coast before settling in Asheville, North Carolina in 1998.
