Just got back from 3 days in the Lost Creek Wilderness. Took a friend who had never backpacked before. This is the area I did my first backpacking trip over 10 years ago so it was really cool to get back and share it with another first timer. Weather was all over the place from sunny to stormy.

You could also stop at the Goose Creek Campground on your drive-in and check with the host for up-to-the-minute information on any fire bans for the area.
