Redial is the second episode of the first season of The Night Agent.
After looking for a link between the Campbells and the FBI, Peter is forced to go on the run with Rose in search of a hard drive — and more answers.
Three months ago, Rose gives an interview about her cybersecurity company. She has to leave for a call from Lawrence Finster, her biggest client, who is panicking because his company has been hacked. She runs to talk with Hadim, a coder, who tells her someone messed with the code on their end. She realizes it's Adam and tries to fix it.
Now, Hawkins grills Rose for answers, convinced she isn't telling them the truth. He accuses Rose of being involved in what happened or at least dishonest. Peter listens from the hallway. Farr insists they're on the same side. Rose calls Hawkins an asshole and storms out. Peter asks how it went and Hawkins insists Rose is hiding something. Farr agrees but hopes Peter can get her to talk. They have a car outside that will take her to a hotel where she'll be under Secret Service surveillance. Rose, who is back, insists on walking, so Peter escorts her. When they're gone, Hawkins tells Farr he doesn't like Peter being near a witness as he doesn't have the training. Farr doesn't underestimate Peter and believes he can do this.
Peter and Rose walk together as he asks about her plan. It's to stay alive for as long as possible. She only trusts Peter to a degree. Someone in the White House wants her dead and if they know she can ID the guy who killed her aunt and uncle that makes her a bigger target. His life might be at stake now too.
They arrive at the hotel and Peter shows her the room. He asks her to stay out of sight. She can order anything from room service, has a mini bar, and agents guarding her. She doesn't have any books or a laptop to read. She's just stuck there. He suggests she work on her pool game. He then assures her they'll get the guys after her. He has to work and prepares to leave. She's surprised and wonders if this is goodbye forever. The Secret Service guys will be better at protecting her than he is. She thinks he did okay. He returns the sentiment. She thanks him and gives him a hug. He leaves and tells the agents to take care of Rose. He goes to the lobby and passes a book stand. He selects a few and has the front desk send them up to Rose's room. Peter asks they tell her they're from Peter.
Ellen and Dale drive as she wonders what is in the bag they stole. He used to be curious but isn't anymore. They talk until they're pulled over a cop for speeding. She reaches for her gun but he stops her, preferring she take her ticket.
Peter arrives at the White House and heads to Farr's office. He didn't get anything new out of Rose. Hawkins, Almora, and Briggs arrive as Farr gives a briefing. The Campbells worked for the FBI recruiting foreign assets domestically. If they had Rose call Night Action, that means they were working something off the books. Almora and Briggs want Secret Service to step-in, but Hawkins gruffly refuses. He wants to take another crack at Rose. Peter worries she's been traumatized enough. Hawkins snaps at Peter so Farr reasons with him. She disbands the meeting, but tells Peter to read the Campbells files and find a reason they were targeted. He worries he doesn't have clearance, but she is ready for him to do more. She needs him to do whatever is possible to keep Rose Larkin safe. Farr's been training him for a year, but wasn't sure for what, until now.
