The goal is to subtract the starting time from the ending time under the correct conditions. If the times are not already in 24-hour time, convert them to 24-hour time. AM hours are the same in both 12-hour and 24-hour time. For PM hours, add 12 to the number to convert it to 24-hour time. For example, 1:00 PM would be 13:00 in 24-hour time.

It’s been a relatively quiet few hours for 24 since the rollicking premiere episodes. Tense standoffs and high-stakes decisions have been made, sure, but we haven’t had the pure adrenaline shot for little while. Tonight hits that spot hard, as agendas collide in an hour that’s alternately suspenseful and flat-out exciting.

In a surprise to absolutely no viewer anywhere, Heller puts Jack back into action, approving his plan to go undercover with a particularly intimidating arms dealer. But of course Boudreau has to have his man-to-man talk with Jack, who awesomely reminds him that he’s almost certainly a dead man so why bother? The writers and Tate Donovan have done a wonderful job in making Boudreau a fully realized character, a slime ball who can’t seem to get out of his own way, and he’s just one example of how this season has laid the groundwork with new players that’s beginning to pay off.

In a reminder of something that 24 as a series has known all along, it’s the characters that drive the suspense. Everyone’s needs and desires make perfect sense in this episode, whether it’s Jack and his single-mindedness, Kate being so desperate to redeem herself that she’s willing to go in on what is likely a suicide mission, or the Prime Minister deciding that he’s had enough of the Americans dicking around on his turf. Belcheck’s just about the only newbie who remains a blank slate, albeit a blank slate who seems to have a deadly serious loyalty to Jack.

An episode featuring some of 24's greatest hits-- a mole revealed! Jack undercover! Sleazy presidential advisors! Torture, torture, torture!-- flies by in style.
