Ioan Bowen Rees (13 January 1929 – 4 May 1999) was a Welsh poet, mountaineer and political activist. Born in Dolgellau, Rees studied at the grammar school, then at Bootham School in York.

May 7, 1999 · The Daily Post (6 May, p13) reports the death of Ioan Bowen Rees, describing him as 'Mr Gwynedd'. Dr Rees, who was 70, was chief executive of Gwynedd CC for 12 years until his retirement in 1991. He also served as county secretary from 1973-1980.
