With Michael Callan, Patricia Harty, Jack Collins, Joan Tompkins. Bachelor Peter Christopher is getting pressured from his mother and his boss to get married. His solution is to have platonic friend Greta pretend to be his wife in a furnished apartment whenever he needs to entertain associates.
An important business account is threatened when Peter entertains the lovely female client and separately, Greta has over an important French designer. After burning his bridges, Peter finds he needs his occasional wife in the small town of Barnaby where he has accepted a new job.
