Procopius Anthemius[2] (died 11 July 472) was the Western Roman emperor from 467 to 472. Born in the Eastern Roman Empire, Anthemius quickly worked his way up the ranks. He married into the Theodosian dynasty through Marcia Euphemia, daughter of Eastern emperor Marcian.
Anthemius was a statesman of the Later Roman Empire who served as praetorian prefect of the East under Arcadius and Theodosius II. He supervised the construction of the Theodosian Walls, regulated the grain supply, and dealt with various challenges from Persia, Goths, and Isaurians.
Anthemius (died 472) was a Western Roman emperor who reigned from April 12, 467, to July 11, 472. The son-in-law of the Eastern emperor Marcian, Anthemius was appointed to his office by Marcian’s successor, Leo I, who wanted help in attacking the Vandals in North Africa.
