Viking Crown was a side project started by heavy metal musician Phil Anselmo in the mid-1990s. The first Viking Crown release was an EP recorded in 1994 titled Unorthodox Steps of Ritual which featured Anselmo, credited as Anton Crowley, on guitar, bass, drums and vocals.
Years active: 1994-2001. Viking Crown is a black metal project in the Darkthrone vein formed by Philip Anselmo of Pantera and Killjoy of Necrophagia. The final member is Phil's ex-wife Opal. Their debut album was also the first release on Killjoy's own Baphomet Records.

Its latest creation, Banished Rhythmic Hate, is the musical equivalent of a runaway roller coaster car hurtling through a dark tunnel.
VIKING CROWN was a side project of Pantera singer Phil Anselmo, featuring Killjoy of Necrophagia and his then-wife Opal Enthroned. The band released two albums and an EP of black metal and darkwave music, with poor production and satanic imagery.

Almost ambient at times, the deliberately poorly produced songs were at times quite disturbing and evil sounding, bleak soundscapes of harsh noise, quite characteristic of the early Norwegian bands such as Darkthrone.
