Eleanor torments everyone around her, not least the three old ladies (played by Ellen Pollock, Mary Merral and Amy Dalby) who live in her lodging house by dramatically increasing their rent and poisoning the pet cat of one of them.
Adapted from the play Tabitha by Arnold Ridley, which was published a decade earlier, the story concerns a devious widow who attempts to oppress three elderly ladies and kills the cat of one of them, but providence takes its vengeance on her.
