Oct 14, 2020 · On October 14, 1943, 600 Jews imprisoned in the Nazi extermination camp Sobibor became part of the largest prisoner escape of World War II. In an act of defiance and bravery, a small Jewish resistance group within Sobibor planned and executed a revolt that provided the camp's prisoners with a chance to escape.
The Sobibor escape was the largest and most successful of its kind during World War II. Remarkably, some of those who escaped are still alive today. Their existence bears witness to the fact that even in the very darkest of times, the faintest chink of light will always break through the gloom.
