A non-canon film adaptation of the first half of the Death Note anime series, featuring original scenes and changes. The film follows Light Yagami, a high school student who uses a supernatural notebook to kill criminals, and his nemesis L, a genius detective who tries to stop him.
It's a retelling of the series done by Ryuk after he was asked the story by another Shinigami in return for an apple. It's more or less a directors cut and isn't considered canon as it tweaks certain parts.
