Apr 1, 2020 · The combined company will operate under the name T-Mobile and deliver a transformative 5G network with 14 times more capacity than standalone T-Mobile. The merger also marks the transition of CEO role from John Legere to Mike Sievert, who led the integration and will drive the Un-carrier movement forward.
Sprint Corporation and T-Mobile US merged in 2020 in an all shares deal for $26 billion. The deal was announced on April 29, 2018. After a two-year-long approval process the merger was closed on April 1, 2020, with T-Mobile emerging as the surviving brand. The Sprint brand was discontinued by T-Mobile on August 2, 2020.
