Axel Prahl (born 26 March 1960) is a German actor, voice actor and musician. Biography. Prahl, born in Eutin, grew up in nearby Neustadt in Holstein. After his A-levels, he started studying music and mathematics, but then went on to acting school in Kiel. His acting debut came in 1994 in a television series for ZDF.
In 2002 he played a German sergeant in the Holocaust drama "The Pianist" under the renowned director Roman Polanski. Axel Prahl has made a name for himself among audiences primarily through his versatility. The mime masters his craft from comedy to tragic figures.
Axel Prahl wurde als Sohn von Heinz Prahl und seiner Frau Rita, geb. Haferbecker, in Eutin geboren und wuchs mit seinem Bruder Udo in Neustadt in Holstein auf. Seine Mutter war Verkäuferin, der Stiefvater Dieter Koziol (1945–2019) diente als Obermaat auf einem U-Boot bei der Marine und war später als Vermittler beim Arbeitsamt beschäftigt.
Axel Pahl has been known to a larger series audience since 2002 as Chief Inspector Frank Thiel from Münster in the international television series "Tatort". In 2011, the actor separated from his second wife, with whom he has twins, after 12 years of marriage.

In 2003, Axel Prahl won the Bavarian film award as "Best actor" for his role as snack bar owner Uwe Kukowski in Andreas Dresen's successful tragicomedy "Halbe Treppe" ("Grill Point"). At this point in time, the down-to-earth man in the streets had already become Prahl's signature role.
