DETROIT — General Motors today announced the following senior executive changes: Steve Carlisle, currently executive vice president and president, North America, has elected to retire after 41 years with GM. Carlisle, 61, has led GM North America since September 2020.
Steve Carlisle is a singer who performed the theme song for the TV show WKRP in Cincinnati, a realistic comedy about a radio station. He also released an album of songs inspired by the show and worked for Microsoft in the 90s.
WKRP had two musical themes, one opening and the other closing the show. The opening theme, a soft rock /pop number called "WKRP in Cincinnati Main Theme," was composed by Tom Wells, with lyrics by series creator Hugh Wilson, and was performed by Steve Carlisle.
