US private equity firm Bain Capital is the new owner of Virgin Australia, after creditors voted in favour of the deal. The airline will operate with a smaller fleet and fewer routes, and will pay out all worker entitlements and honour travel credits.
Paul Scurrah was announced as the new CEO and Managing Director of Virgin Australia Group in February 2019. He replaced John Borghetti, who led the airline's transformation and diversification for eight years.
