Robert Jan Mrazek (born November 6, 1945) is an American author, filmmaker, and former politician. He served as a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, representing New York's 3rd congressional district on Long Island for most of the 1980s.
Since he retired from Congress and politics, Robert Jan Mrazek has penned more than ten works. He has also been the writer and co-director of “The Congressman,” a feature film that came out in 2016. His works now feature historical fiction across two series and single-standing novels and non-fiction works.

Robert Jan Mrazek. Born November 6, 1945, in Newport, RI, Robert Jan Mrazek grew up in Huntington, Long Island, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1967 and then joined the US Navy. Following his discharge, Mrazek spent 1969-1971 as an aide to US Senator Vance Hartke (D-Indiana).
Mrazek is the author of seven novels, including Stonewall's Gold, Unholy Fire, The Deadly Embrace, Valhalla, The Bone Hunters, Dead Man's Bridge, and And the Sparrow Fell. In 2000, Stonewall's Gold won the Michael Shaara Prize as the best Civil War novel of the year.
