  3. Biography. Born in Mobile, Alabama, April 7, 1873, Allen Lewis moved at age four with his family to Buffalo, New York. When Lewis graduated from high school, he enrolled at the Buffalo Art Students League where he studied under the Canadian painter, George Bridgman.

  4. Allen Lewis (1873 - 1957) Lewis was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1873 and studied with Jean-Léon Gerome at the Ecole des Beaus Arts in Paris, creating his first etchings in 1895. In 1900 his work, along with fellow Americans Whistler and Pennell, was accepted in the printmaking section of the Paris Salon.

  8. Allen Lewis (1873 – 1957) was born in Mobile, Alabama. He studied in Paris at the Academie Colarossi and in 1900, his etchings were accepted into the Paris Salon. Lewis returned to New York in 1902, where he continued his printmaking and showed his work at gallery 291, owned by Alfred Steiglitz.
