Kreng is a Belgium-based project formed by Pepijn Caudron (born 1975). Initially Kreng was a strictly sample-based project, incorporating sounds from various sources: dark jazz, new electronic generated sounds, classical modernism and vintage geographical recordings.
He found that music offered more possibilities than the traditional rock band set-up. Initially, his solo work was heavily influenced by the sample-ideology of hip-hop and the sound of labels like Mo’ Wax and Ninja Tune in the late 90’s.

Feb 6, 2015 · The Summoner comes 4 years since the last Kreng album Grimoire and 3 years since the massive retrospective box set Works for Abattoir Férme 2007-2011. A lot has happened in between, and this new recording can be seen as quite the departure from the aformentioned.
Kreng is a dark ambient/modern classical/soundtrack project conjured up by Belgian musician Pepijn Caudron, who is associated with theater group Abattoir Fermé. Caudron 's recordings combine ghostly operatic vocals, shuffling jazz drumming, eerie dialogue samples, and layers of acoustic instrumentation, producing dark, suspenseful soundscapes.
